It does have a high compression ratio, but it lacks all social media, cloud storage, and instant messenger compatibility. WinZip allows you to compress files and folders into archives of ZIP and ZIPX format. 7zip is an opensource product, making it totally free, whereas WinZip carries a one-time cost with a 21-day free trial. To open a zipped file with 7zip, users will have to download a compatibility software to bridge the gap.
Regarding compatibility, WinZip works with Windows, Mac, Android, and iOS, whereas 7zip is only compatible with Windows. At the end of the 21 days, you will either need to purchase the software or delete it from your computer. You can download and use WinZip for free during a 21 day evaluation period.
